Once again, it was Travis Head who took the game away from India. Australia maintained their unbeaten record in pink-ball Tests played at Adelaide Oval with a 10-wicket win over India. The Test was marred by controversy late into Day 2 when Mohammed Siraj dismissed Head with a yorker. After Head and Siraj shared their version of events in the media, the duo seemed to have clarified the misunderstanding.
"He's come out then and said it was a little bit of a misunderstanding. I think we will move on, we've had a great week, so let's not ruin it. I'm sweet, and I think he's the same, and we move on," Head told ABC Sports after Australia won the Test withing seven sessions to level series 1-1.
Siraj gave Head an aggressive send-off. Head said a few words to Siraj as well. The Indian bowler was then booed by the crowd for his heated exchange with the local boy. Head wasn't happy with Siraj's send-off and made a few comments in the media as he felt disrespected.
Before the start of Day 3's play, Siraj said that Head lied in the press conference. He said that he was just celebrating the wicket and it was Head who abused him before walking back to the dressing room.
However, when Siraj came in to bat Head was seen talking to him. The centurion of the pink-ball Test was the close-in fielder as Siraj faced a barrage of short balls from Australian pacers. The two had a conversation before Siraj was caught by Head and India were bowled out.
Australia chased down the target of 19 easily and there was no animosity between the two during the customary handshake.
Head happy with dressing room environment.
There were speculations of rift among Australian players after Perth defeat. Head who was adjudged 'Player of the match' said that the Australian dressing room is a tight one
"Nice to get some runs again. I felt like I moved well last week, I felt like I am in good form. It's a good dressing room to be in, it's a tight one, most people might suggest otherwise. Putting a good performance in, nothing was ever guaranteed, nice momentum and now we have to move on with it," the southpaw said in the post-match presentation.
