India veteran speedster Mohammed Shami will have to wait more to join the Rohit Sharma-led squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. As per reports, the speedster has not yet received fitness clearance, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still undecided when he can be sent to Australia.

As per Cricbuzz, A team from the NCA went to Rajkot where he was playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) to monitor his progress. Among those on the Shami duty were a national selector (SS Das), the head of BCCI's Sports Science wing (Nitin Patel) and a Strength and Conditioning trainer (Nishanta Bardule).

Shami is currently representing Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 where he picked eight wickets in seven outings. The 34-year-old pacer made his cricketing comeback after recovering from an injury he got in 2023 ODI World Cup. But more than his bowling, the assessment was whether he would be able to withstand the gruelling workload of a Test match.

The veteran speedster will feature for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise brought him for a whopping Rs 10 crore. The upcoming edition of the tournament is scheduled to start from March 14.
