Team India are currently in Australia preparing for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which is scheduled to start from November 22. Young India batter Yashavi Jaiswal who is all set to play his first Test match on Australian soil got hit by a ball on his back while fielding during net sessions at WACA.
However, as per sources close to Sports Tak, finds out that the left-handed batter batted more than 35 minutes after getting hit by the ball and he is fit to feature in the Perth Test.
Earlier, Shubman Gill got injured while fielding at slip during India's match simulation at WACA. The young batter has fractured his thumb and is most likely to miss the first Test match. Apart from Gill, Rohit Sharma will also miss the first Test match as the Indian captain was recently blessed with a baby. He is spending time with his family and is most likely to join the squad during the Perth Test but will feature in the second Test. In the absence of Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side.
The upcoming Test series is important for India to seal their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final which will take place next year in England. India needs to register a 4-0 win to confirm their berth in the WTC final without depending on the other team's outcomes.
