India wicketkeeper KL Rahul's dismissal sparked controversy as the batter got out after scoring just 26 runs in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth. There were two noises when the ball went to the keeper, but KL looked confident that the bat got hit to his pads. Starc asked for a review, but the replay is from side-on, and we can't see if the bat is close to the pad or not. The third umpire announced his decision based on the spike despite the lack of the front-on angle in combination with Snicko.
The decision was overturned and KL Rahul was seen sad with the decision. However, that was not conclusive evidence to rule out the noise coming from the bat hitting pad. The video of KL Rahul's dismissal went viral on the social sphere here is the clip.
Earlier, India top order failed to perform during the first inning of Adelaide Test at The Optus Stadium in Perth. Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Devdutt Padikkal got out on a duck and Virat Kohli just scored five runs after Jasprit Bumrah opted to bat first.
There are three debutants in this match, two from India and one from Australia. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and right-arm seamer Harshit Rana will debut for visitors and Nathan McSweeney will debut for the Baggy Greens.
