Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his maiden Test century in England during his first outing in the opening Test match of the five-match series at the Yorkshire Cricket Ground in Leeds, England. Jaiswal who was overjoyed after making his maiden hundred in England, gave credit to captain Shubman Gill for maintaining a calm atmosphere at the other end during their partnership.
Jaiswal and Gill who also made an unbeaten century, added 129 runs for the third wicket stand to take India to 221 from a shaky 92 for two after the first session. The duo changed the momentum of the game after India lost two wickets in quick succession
"Whenever I make a century, wherever it is, I enjoy it. I love it as all my centuries are special. But of course, there are some special moments…first (century in England)," Jaiswal said in the post-day press meet.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to their 'X', formerly known as Twitter, to share a video where wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel can be seen having a conversation with Jaiswal and he asked the opener about his secret of smashing centuries. Here is the clip.
"My desire, my will to do well. Whenever I come here, I thoughts in and think that I should for my team, my country. So I really enjoy when I practice alone and when I prepare. So I'm trying that every ball that I play will help me in difficult situations," said Jaiswal in a video shared by BCCI.
Jaiswal became the seventh Indian opener to register a hundred in England and Australia during Day 1 of the first Test between India and England in Headingley. The left-handed batter an exclusive list of Indian opening batters, which includes Vinoo Mankad, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, M. Vijay and KL Rahul.
