Jasprit Bumrah didn't feature in Edgbaston Test

Shubman Gill provided a major update on Bumrah's participation in third Test

Following the massive 336-run victory against England at Edgbaston, India captain Shubman Gill confirmed that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be featuring in the third Test against England at Lord's which is set to commence from July 10. Bumrah had played the first Test of the five-match series at Headingley, however was rested for the second game and was replaced by Akash Deep in the playing XI.

Gill provided a simple one-word update on Bumrah's participation

Gill was asked whether Bumrah will be participating in the third Test or not in the post-match press-conference. The 25-year-old didn't give any hints and simply confirmed that the seamer will indeed be seen in action at Lord's.

"Definitiely. All the things we spoke about after the first game, we were spot on. Our bowling and fielding was tremendous to see. We knew if we get 400-500 on this kind of wicket, we'll be in the game. Not everytime we're going to drop that many catches," Gill stated after the match.

"He bowled with so much heart. The areas and lengths he hit, he was getting the ball to move both ways. On wickets like this, it's difficult to do that. I'd say I'm feeling comfortable with my game. If we win the series with my contributions, I'll feel happier. I've said this before, want to play as a batsman, think as a batsman," he added.

Bumrah was India's top wicket-taker in the first Test with five scalps under his name. He was also the only Indian bowler who constantly posed challenges for the England batters throughout the match. Though he did fail to take any wickets in the final innings as the hosts chased down the target of 371 on Day 5, his return will undoubtedly strengthen the bowling attack by a massive margin.

Meanwhile, Gill and Akash Deep were India's top performers when it comes to the Edgbaston Test. The former played incredible knocks of 269 and 161 in the first and second innings respectively while the latter finished the match with a 10-wicket-haul which included figures of 6/99 in the all-important final innings. Both the players managed to break numerous records with their stellar performances as the Men in Blue levelled the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at 1-1. It will definitely be interesting to see which side comes out on top in the much-anticipated third Test.
