England vs India Test series to commence from June 20

England will be facing-off against India in the upcoming five-match Test series which is set to begin from June 20. The series will also mark the beginning of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, so it will be quite important for both sides.

Ahead of the series, pacer Brydon Carse, who has been selected in England's 14-member squad that will be playing the first Test against India, opened up about his recent injury and revealed that at one stage, he had thought about amputating his toe in order to get rid of a painful problem that had kept him out of action for months.

Carse missed out on the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to the injury

He stated that he had sustained deep cuts on the second toe of his left foot due to the repeated landing of his front foot while bowling. This issue saw him get ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and got him sitting on the sidelines for three months.

"At one stage I was going to bed thinking 'I think I could actually do this - I think I could get rid of my second toe', but then the medical staff said you need it for balance so that was quickly ruled out," Carse was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"I try not to mention the toe in the changing room any more because people are sick of it. It is a bit of a running joke in the changing room, my second toe," he added.

Carse revealed that he had to take many measures in order to improve his condition. He took different types of antibiotics for almost two months and eventually, things started to work as the deep wound finally healed up.

"For a period of about six to eight weeks, I was on three or four different courses of antibiotics. Eventually the wound was that deep that it ultimately needed a period of time just to heal up and close up. Fingers crossed everything we've done over the last six to eight weeks seems to be working," Carse stated.

Earlier, Carse was signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 mega auction for his base price of INR 1 crore, however the injury kept him out of action for the whole tournament and the side was left with no choice but to announce his replacement.

The pacer recently featured for England in the three-match ODI series against West Indies where he picked up a total of four scalps as the Three Lions swept the series 3-0.
