Following the match, a frustrated Abhishek Sharma did not hold back, criticizing the Indian batting unit's performance during the post-match press conference. The left-hander also shed light on how the team management is handling 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who earned a senior call-up on the back of sensational performances in the 2026 IPL, the U-19 World Cup, and domestic List A cricket.
"He asks questions, so I feel he has that in himself, where he wants to learn a lot of things, and obviously it's a dream for him too," Abhishek said after the match.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's debut gets delayed
At just 15 years old, Sooryavanshi earned his first call-up to the Indian national team following a historic campaign with the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. The prodigy took the cricketing world by storm, becoming the youngest player ever to win both the Orange Cap and the Most Valuable Player award after amassing an incredible 776 runs. His stock rose even higher after a jaw-dropping 29-ball 94 in the List A Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka A, making his inclusion in the national squad highly anticipated.
