Dinesh Chandimal will miss the second Test after suffering a concussion.

In a series of expected events, Sri Lanka have made some changes to their 14-member squad for the second and final Test against India, which gets underway on Sunday, August 23. Ahead of the series finale, the hosts have handed call-ups to Sahan Arachchige and Kamil Mishara.

Meanwhile, veteran batter Dinesh Chandimal will miss the game because of an injury, forcing Sri Lanka to reshuffle their squad for the crucial game.

New names in Sri Lanka

Dinesh Chandimal endured concussion while fielding during the first Test, and the injury has now ruled the experienced player out of the series finale. Sri Lanka have brought Kamil Mishara into the squad after Chandimal's absence, while all-rounder Sahan Arachige has also earned a spot in the 14-member group.

Both Mishara and Arachchige have already represented Sri Lanka in white-ball formats but are yet to make their Test debuts. Their inclusion has therefore raised the possibility that one, or potentially both, could play first Test.

India eye important win

The ongoing two-match series also carries major importance for India in the World Test Championship 2025-27 race. A 2-0 sweep on Sri Lankan soil would give a big boost to India's hopes of staying firmly in contention for a place in the WTC final. Their schedule becomes even more demanding after this series, with a Test tour of New Zealand followed by a home series against Australia.

securing both matches in Sri Lanka would therefore not only strengthen India's WTC position but also give the team important momentum ahead of their New Zealand challenge in November.

Sri Lanka's updated squad:

Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Kamindu Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Sahan Arachchige, Sonal Dinusha, Niroshan Dickwella, Keshara Nuwantha, Prabath Jayasuriya, Milan Rathnayake, Lahiru Kumara, Asitha Fernando, Vishwa Fernando
