In what came as a much-needed boost to the Mumbai Indians (MI), the No.1 ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav joined the squad on April 5 (Friday). Upon joining the team, Suryakumar turned straight to business and hit the nets to work on his craft. Suryakumar recently recovered from his knee injury and completed his rehabilitation program from the sports hernia surgery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

There are chances that Suryakumar will return to MI's playing XI during the franchise's upcoming match against the Delhi Capitals, scheduled to be played of April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

For more than three months, Suryakumar was absent from the professional cricket arena. In December, the skilled batter suffered an injury sidelining him from the game. He underwent a surgical procedure early this year to correct a sports hernia and has only recently concluded his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Suryakumar can revive MI's season

Suryakumar is probably the best batter in the Mumbai Indians squad, having made significant contributions in T20 cricket. His performance in the shortest format of the sport has been phenomenal, to say the least. Last season, he emerged as MI's highest run-scorer, notching up 605 runs in 16 matches at a striking rate of 181.14, which included five half-centuries and one hundred.

Thus, both the Mumbai Indians team and their fans are keenly anticipating Suryakumar's potential comeback in the upcoming match against the Delhi Capitals.

With the Mumbai Indians' batting lineup not performing to its potential, Suryakumar Yadav's return could be the crucial element that sparks a turnaround for the team.
