Yuzvendra Chahal did not get to bat in the previous edition of IPL 2023.

Chahal is known for his banter with teammates during the IPL.

Indian leggie Yuzvendra Chahal is known for his banter on and off the field. Chahal is often seen trying to convince captains to let him bat a bit higher up the order instead of no.11. With the introduction of the ‘impact player’ rule, Chahal did not bat even once for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Ahead of the upcoming season, RR posted a video of Chahal in a car saying that the will open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler will be picked in the team as an impact player.

“Perfect. Jos bhai is impact player now this year. I am going to open with Jaiswal. 6 overs 120 runs,” Chahal said jokingly.

Hesson feels Chahal’s anger is justified

Earlier this month, Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) former director of cricket Mike Hesson opened up on why Chahal was not bought back by the franchise in the mega auction and why the leg-spinner has every right to be angry.

"I remember ringing Yuzi afterwards and he was upset. It was very difficult to try and explain to him the auction dynamics at that time. He was visibly disinterested, and I don't blame him. He was an RCBian and he was frustrated. But I can assure everyone that he is well-aware of the issues we were confronted with," Hesson said on cricket.com.

Chahal still searching for answers

Earlier, Chahal had said that he is still unaware as to why he has not retained and how it affected him.

"As part of the RCB franchise for eight long years, I am still unsure why I was dropped from the team. I was never informed about this decision after the IPL auction, which deeply saddened me," Chahal had said on the Beer Biceps podcast.

"No one even spoke to me. I think I played around 114 games for them. I couldn't understand what happened suddenly," he added.

Chahal leading the charts

In the last season, Chahal became the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. He has 187 wickets from 145 games including one five-wicket haul. In the previous season, he took 21 wickets, most for RR.
