Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has found the replacement of legendary cricketer MS Dhoni in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru camp. As the buzz around, IPL 2024 being the final season for Dhoni, fans keep on wondering who will replace the legendary cricketer in the team. Well, the current CSK captain has reached out to another veteran wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik.
Gaikwad asks Karthik to join CSK
Dinesh Karthik was doing a question-answer session on his Instagram. Gaiwkad used the opportunity and asked Karthik “Next IPL franchise? CSK?”. The RCB batter revealed that it was Ruturaj who asked this question and asked him “Role definition please? Skipper (laughing emojis)”.
However, this shift is very unlikely as, unlike Dhoni, Karthik has already announced that he would be hanging his boots after the conclusion of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League but if the veteran decides to play a couple more seasons, his potential addition to the squad can be a great addition to the five-time champions.
CSK to face RCB
Currently, all eyes are on the big clash between CSK and RCB. Both teams are playing in a sort of eliminator for the spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs. RCB have the opportunity to take CSK's spot in the top four and qualify for the playoffs. If Bengaluru beat Chennai by 18 runs or chase their target in 18.1 overs (if CSK score 200 runs), they will get a better net run rate and make it into the next stage.
RCB are on a five-match win streak and with momentum on their side they would try to pull off one of the biggest comebacks in the league's history. However, there is rain threat looming large on the match as well. If the weather causes a washout, CSK will automatically qualify for the playoffs.
