On the other hand, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has created history by securing his maiden India call-up, becoming the youngest player ever selected for the Indian team.
Suryakumar's success as India's captain
Coming back to Suryakumar, India won their second T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. After the win, Rohit announced his retirement from the T20I format, prompting the selectors to appoint Suryakumar as the new captain of the T20I side.

At that time, Hardik Pandya was also a strong contender for captaincy. However, concerns about his fitness played a key factor in the selectors going with Suryakumar instead.
Suryakumar Yadav's record as India captain
Suryakumar Yadav has led India in 52 T20Is, guiding the team to register win 42 of those while enduring only eight losses. This gave him an impressive win percentage of 80.77, making it one of the best captaincy records in Indian cricket's history.
Shreyas Iyer's mission as India skipper in T20Is
With Suryakumar Yadav's departure, Shreyas Iyer has been named as India's new skipper in T20Is. His biggest objectives will be leading India to win a gold medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where cricket is all set to make its comeback, and leading the team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2028.
Team India's schedule for Ireland and England series:
