Yuzvendra Chahal has conceded 48 runs from four overs against Delhi Capitals.

Chahal is India's highest wicket-taker in the format.

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal entered record books despite going for 48 runs in his quota of four overs. With the wicket of Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant, Chahal became the first Indian bowler to take 350 wickets in T20 cricket (T20Is, franchise cricket and domestic cricket).

Chahal achieved the feat in his 301st appearance in T20 cricket. He is also the 11st highest wicket-taker in the format. There are two more leg-spinners who have more wickets in the format than Chahal. Afghanistan's Rashid Khan is on the second spot with 572 wickets followed by South Africa's Imran Tahir with 502 wickets. Tahir is in the fourth position.

The next Indian bowler on the list is Chahal's Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammate Ravichandran Ashwin with 306 wickets from 318 games. He is followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 297 wickets from 281 games.

Chahal goes for plenty

Chahal was introduced by Sanju Samson in the eighth over of the innings. Abhishek Porel welcomed him with a six on the first ball. He conceded 14 runs in his first over. He was brought back into the attack in the 14th over. Pant went for a sweep shot and got caught by Boult.

In his third over, Afghan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib on his IPL debut hit him for a six. His fourth over turned out to be the most expensive one. Tristan Stubbs hit a six and two fours. Naib hit a boundary as well. Chahal conceded 21 runs in his fourth over.

Chahal’s run in IPL 2024

Chahal has been expensive of late but RR's leading wicket-taker in the tournament. He has 14 wickets from 11 games. His economy rate is 9.90 runs per over. Recently, the 33-year-old made his way to India’s T20I squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.
