On May 13, in a crucial clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), third umpire Yeshwant Barde’s controversial no ball call led to an unfortunate incident at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

The incident took place in the penultimate over of SRH's innings. Avesh Khan bowled a high full toss which was signalled no-ball by the on-field umpire. LSG skipper Krunal Pandya reviewed the decision. At first, it looked like the on-field decision will stay but the third umpire felt that Abdul Samad crouched a little and adjudged it a legitimate delivery.

Following the decision, Heinrich Klaasen had a heated exchange with the umpire. Samad was shocked with the decision as well and had a conversation with the square leg umpire as SRH were robbed of an extra run, extra ball and a free hit.

Next ball, Klaasen pulled and a top edge went for a boundary. Followed the boundary, there was disturbance near the LSG dugout. Klaasen was not happy with it as well. Soon, the on-field umpire had run towards dugout to control the situation. There were chants of ‘Kohli-Kohli- heard in the background. Also, one of the people in the crowd threw things at the dugout.

Meanwhile, the LSG players and support staff were in the ground away from the dugout to evade if the crowd throws anything else. LSG coach Andy Flower has having a conversation with the umpire as well.

As the play resumed, Klaasen got out after facing a dot delivery. He tried to clear the long-on boundary but found Prerak Mankad well inside the boundary. Mankad was quick to turn around after completing the catch and tried to silence the crowd.

The South Africa wicketkeeper-batter was not happy with the stoppage that hindered with the momentum. In the break between the innings, Klaasen slammed the crowd and the on-field umpiring as he said, “Disappointed of the crowd to be honest, that's not what you want. That also broke the momentum, not great umpiring either.”

Klaasen helped SRH recover from two quick wickets. He scored 47 runs from 29 deliveries including three fours and as many sixes. The Proteas batter shared a 58-run stand with Glenn Phillips.
