Women's Challengers Trophy

In addition, the Women’s Challengers Trophy dates have been announced as well. The five-day tournament will be played from May 24-28 at Lucknow’s Ekana stadium. The dates will also coincide with the ending stages of IPL 2022.

South Africa T20I series dates & venues announced

Earlier in the day BCCI also announced the dates and venues for the five-T20I series against South Africa at home. The T20I series which will serve as preparations for T20 World Cup in Australia later this year, will be played on June 9, 12, 14, 17 and 19 at Delhi, Cuttack, Vizag, Rajkot and Bengaluru respectively.

Covid-effect on IPL 2022 and measures

Recently, there was a question mark over a couple of matches of Delhi Capitals (DC) after two overseas players – Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert – tested positive for Covid-19 in addition to support staff. However, their fixtures’ venues were changed as per the Covid-19 guidelines which were set before the tournament.

Earlier BCCI had taken the decision to host IPL league matches at four venues in Maharashtra. The step was taken to curb travel and risk of players, support staff and their family members of contracting the virus like last time. In 2021, IPL had to be stopped midway and then shifted to United Arab Emirates (UAE) because of Covid outbreak in franchise’s camps and rising number of cases in the country.
