The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 23 matches have been played in IPL 2023 and the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After 17 days of action in the cash-rich tournament, all teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition. Last year's runners-up Rajasthan Royals (RR) have consolidated their position at the top of the points table after a fantastic win over Gujarat Titans (GT).
Let's take a closer look at the points table.
1. Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson's side is sitting pretty at the top of the points table with four wins and one defeat in four matches played thus far. The Royals have earned eight points with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.354.
2. Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul's men began their season on the right note as they trounced Delhi Capitals but lost their second game against the Super Kings. They won two consecutive matches from thereon before facing a defeat against Punjab Kings on April 15 (Saturday). The Super Giants have six points in five matches with an NRR of 0.761.
3. Gujarat Titans: The defending champions registered back-to-back wins to begin their season but lost to KKR on Sunday. They bounced back with another close-fought game but lost again on Sunday. They are currently in third place with 6 points and an NRR of 0.192.
4. Punjab Kings: Shikhar Dhawan's side jumped to fourth place on the points table with three wins in five matches played. The franchise has six points with an NRR of -0.109.
5. Kolkata Knight Riders: In five matches played, KKR have four points on the back of two wins. They are in the fifth spot with an NRR of 0.320.
6. Chennai Super Kings: The Men in Yellow are in sixth place in the standings after losing two and winning two matches to begin their season. They have an NRR of 0.225.
7. Royal Challengers Bangalore: After winning their opening game of the season, the Red Army has lost back-to-back matches. The franchise came back strongly and win its fourth match of the season. With four points and an NRR of -0.316, Bangalore is currently seventh in the standings.
8. Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma's men started their campaign with successive defeats but have now won consecutive matches. They have an NRR of -0.389 with four points in four matches.
9. Sunrisers Hyderabad: The Orange Army surged to the eighth stop after their win on Friday. They have four points with an NRR of -0.822.
10. Delhi Capitals: David Warner's team is at the bottom of the points table with five losses in as many games. They have an NRR of -1.488.
