Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw feels that his teammates took the game a bit casually as they misfielded and dropped catches that allowed Punjab Kings (PBKS) to make a comeback in the run chase. DC won the encounter at HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala by 15 runs but PBKS’ hard-hitting batter Liam Livingstone gave them a scare in the slog overs.

‘Maybe we were a little casual’

In a conversation with DC skipper David Warner posted on Indian Premier League (IPL) Twitter, Shaw criticised his teammates’ fielding.

"Like you said, it was tough for the fast bowlers out there. But I think our spinners did a really good job on this kind of wicket. Dropped catches - I think it happens in the game, but maybe we were a little casual in between because we scored 213. But a win is a win. Obviously, a little bit late, but we will enjoy it today. Everyone putting their hands up and not giving anything away. Everyone is smiling," Shaw said.

Dropped catches

The first catch was dropped by Anrich Nortje off Kuldeep Yadav's bowling in the eighth over. Livingstone was batting on just three runs then. Livingstone went on to score 94 runs and got out off the final ball of the over. In Kuldeep's next over, Yash Dhull dropped Atharva Taide's each catch at long-on. The dropped catch left head coach Ricky Ponting frustrated. Taide was batting on 36 then and he retired out after scoring 54.

After six disappointing scores, Shaw made a comeback to DC’s playing XI. He scored his maiden half-century of the season. His 38-ball 54 was studded with seven fours and one six. His knock laid the platform for a big score. Rilee Rossouw’s unbeaten 82 helped DC post a daunting total of 213/2 on the board.

In the video Shaw also agreed with Warner saying that he would like to take the fresh Dharamsala pitch to their homeground Arun Jaitley Stadium.

“Definitely, after long (feeling good). Sometimes you have to work hard for it. This was the match, I had to work hard, you get the credit later,’ the 23-year-old had earlier told the broadcasters during innings break.
