Since Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises’ fans have turned up for players’ practice to watch them train, get autographs or click a selfie. On March 24, Rajasthan Royals (RR) fans sung a Bollywood number ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’ for Ravichandran Ashwin.

The fans were calling Ashwin to meet them. Ashwin had a big smile on his face as he walked towards the camera. The video was posted by Royals on their Twitter account.

In the previous season, Ashwin was not just used as a bowler by Royals but a floater in the batting order as well. He scored 191 runs at an average of 27.29 including a 38-ball fifty. His strike rate was an impressive 141.48. With the ball, he took 12 wickets. His economy rate was impressive at 7.51 runs per over but his bowling average was 41.92.

Royals will play their first home game at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on April 19 against KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

In the upcoming IPL season, Royals will miss the services of Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna. Meanwhile, Sandeep Sharma has been seen in the nets and may replace Krishna in the side. Sandeep had a base price of Rs 50 lakh but remain unsold despite his IPL record.

Even though they have the services of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, they picked Australian leggie Adam Zampa in the side. Also, former England skipper Joe Root got picked for the first time in IPL.
