After leading Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the SA20 title, Aiden Markram was rewarded with yet another responsibility for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Markram was announced the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain for the 16th edition of the glitzy league as he replaced Kane Williamson in the leadership role.

But the 2016 IPL champions are yet to announce their vice-captain for the IPL 2023. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mayank Agarwal are the two names which are floating in everyone's mind. Markram was posed with the same question as to who is befitting for the important role. Markram was in a fix to pick a name between Bhuvneshwar and Mayank for the deputy role as he said it's tough to decide a name between the two as he believes both the players would be a perfect fit for the jo.

"That's a tough one. I played under Mayank at the Kings. He and I got on really well. And if you look at the amount of experience someone like Bhuvi has, it is almost unreplaceable. So, to pick one would be difficult right now but I think both of them would nail it certainly," he said.

The South African star batter was also asked whether which Indian player should join the SA20 league. After giving it a thought, Markram chose the former India skipper MS Dhoni.

"That's a very difficult one. To be honest with you, someone like MS (Dhoni) would be great to have in the camp. Just for guys to be able to learn, he has got all the knowledge, he has seen everything this game has produced for our local players in South Africa to be able to sponge up something like that I suppose would be great. So, yeah that's the one player that comes to my mind firstly, but there will be a lot of players I think that would be discussed for sure," Markram said.

Markram scored 381 runs in 14 matches for SRH at an average of 47.63 in 2022. For the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the South African batter scored a hundred in the semifinal against the Joburg SuperKings to help them reach the final where they defeated the Pretoria Capitals to win the SA 20 title.

He also captained the side that won the 2014 ICC U-19 World Cup, which is the only ICC trophy that South Africa have won in the last 20 years!
