IPL 2025: Jos Buttler scripts massive World record after guiding GT to 7-wicket win over DC with 97-run blitzkrieg

Chasing a dauting target of 204 runs, Gujarat Titans' victory was spearheaded by Jos Buttler's historic knock. His magnificent innings of 97 runs earned him a well-deserved Player of the Match award. Moreover, this outstanding performance allowed him to clock a big record in the IPL.

Jos Buttler has now etched his name in IPL history by achieving a unique world record. He is the first player ever to remain unbeaten after scoring 90 or more runs on three separate instances while successfully leading his team to victory in a run chase in IPL.

Buttler had previously accomplished this feat twice during his tenure with the Rajasthan Royals. In the 2018 season of the IPL, he registered unbeaten scores of 94 and 95 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) respectively, both of which resulted in successful run chases for his team.

This innings marked the 11th occasion in IPL history that Jos Buttler has scored 90 runs or more. With this achievement, he surpassed the tallies of Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, and David Warner to now hold the distinction of having the second-highest number of nineties in the league's history. Virat Kohli currently leads this particular record with 13 scores in the nineties.
