Rohit Sharma will be seen in action when Mumbai Indians will host Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 clash on May 21. Currently positioned fourth in the points table with seven wins out of 12 matches, MI need to secure wins in their remaining two fixtures to ensure their qualification for the playoffs.

Rohit has set his sights on a massive IPL record, as he is just 72 runs shy of reaching a remarkable milestone. With a current tally of 6928 runs from 268 matches, Rohit Sharma is on the verge of completing 7000 runs in IPL. Upon achieving this feat, he will become only the second batsman, after Virat Kohli, to reach this impressive landmark in IPL history. Throughout his IPL career, Rohit has maintained an average of 29.73 and has batted with a striking rate of 131.93, including two centuries and 46 half-centuries.

Rohit Sharma's journey in the IPL kicked off with the Deccan Chargers, where he played for three seasons. Subsequently, he became a part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL 2011 mega-auction and has remained an integral part of the team ever since.

Virat Kohli stands alone as the only batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League to have surpassed the 7000-run mark. Having been a steadfast member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru since his IPL debut in 2008, Virat has amassed an impressive 8509 runs in 263 matches. His remarkable career includes 8 centuries and 62 half-centuries.
 

Following Virat Kohli in the list of highest IPL run-scorers is Rohit Sharma. Shikhar Dhawan occupies the third position with a total of 6769 runs. David Warner and Suresh Raina hold the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Warner has accumulated 6565 runs in 184 matches, although he went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Raina concluded his IPL career with 5528 runs, also going unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction before announcing his retirement from the Indian league later that year. Currently, Raina is actively involved in IPL as a commentator.
