Steve Smith joins elite list featuring Ricky Ponting and Allan Border after smashing half-century against South Africa in WTC Final

Australia managed to score 212 runs in the first innings against South Africa in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the iconic Lord's Stadium in England. 
 

Steve Smith smashed 66 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which was his 130th international half-century. With that, he joined the elite list of Australian cricketers who smashed the most fifty-plus scores in international cricket. 
 

Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting tops the tally as he smashed fifty-plus score 216 times in his international career. Ponting's international cricket career spanned from 1995 to 2012. He made his Test debut in December 1995 and retired from Test cricket in December 2012

David Warner

Destructive Australia opener David Warner comes second in the tally as he crossed the fifty-run mark 147 times in his international career. 

Mark Waugh

Mark Waugh comes third in the list as he crossed the fifty-run mark 135 times in his international career. Mark Waugh's international cricket career spanned from 1988 to 2002, primarily as a batsman and all-rounder for Australia. He played 128 Test matches and 244 One Day Internationals (ODIs), representing Australia in both formats. 
 

Allan Border

Allan Border had a terrific international cricket career spanning from 1978 to 1994. He represented Australia in 156 Test matches and 273 One Day Internationals (ODIs). Border managed to score a fifty-plus score for 132 times in his international career.
