SRH's 287 vs RCB to LSG's 257 vs PBKS: Top 10 highest totals in IPL history

The T20 cricket has evolved drastically. Batting-friendly pitches, no use of saliva and impact fielder rule has led to big scores in the IPL. Eight out of the top 10 highest totals in IPL were scored in the previous season. Ahead of IPL 2025, here is the list of top 10 highest totals in league's history.

10. In IPL 2023, Lucknow Super Giants posted 257/5 against Punjab Kings. Half-centuries from Kyle Mayers (24-ball 54), Marcust Stoinis (40-ball 72) and cameos from Ayush Badoni (24-ball 43), Nicholas Pooran (19-ball 45) helped them post their highest total. LSG won the match by 56 runs in Mohali.

9. In IPL 2024, young opener Jake Fraser-McGurk's 27-ball 84 and cameos from Shai Hope (17-ball 41), captain Rishabh Pant (19-ball 29) and Tristan Stubbs (25-ball 48) helped them post 257/4 on the board. Mumbai Indians (MI) had a good reply but lost the match by 10 runs as they posted 247/9.

8. Openers Phil Salt (37-ball 75) and Sunil Narine's (32-ball 71) electrifying fifties supported by cameos from Venkatesh Iyer (23-ball 39), Andre Russell (12-ball 24) and captain Shreyas Iyer (10-ball 28) helped them post 261/6 at Eden Gardens. KKR lost by eight wickets as Punjab Kings chased down the total with eight balls in hand.
 

7. In IPL 2024, RCB lost despite scoring 262/7 in the run chase. Chasing a mammoth target of 288 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Virat Kohli's 20-ball 40 and captain Faf du Plessis' 28-ball 62 laid a good foundation. Dinesh Karthik scored 83 runs from 36 balls but it went in vain as RCB posted 262/7 and lost by 25 runs.
 

6. Jonny Bairstow's unbeaten century (108 runs from 48 balls) and Shashank Singh's 28-ball 68, Prabhsimran Singh's 20-ball 54 helped Punjab Kings chase down 262 with eight wickets in hand and eight balls to spare against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. 
 

5. RCB's record for highest IPL score stood for nearly 11 years. Chris Gayle's record-breaking 175 studded with 17 sixes helped RCB post a mammoth total of 263/5 against now-defunct Pune Warriors. RCB won the match by 130 runs.
 

4. On April 20, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 266/7 against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Openers Travis Head's 32-ball 89, Abhishek Sharma's 12-ball 46 followed by Shahbaz Ahmed's unbeaten 29-ball 59 helped them dominated DC's bowling lineup. SRH won the match by 67 runs.
 

3. On April 3, 2024, Delhi Capitals bowlers were taken to the cleaners by KKR batters. Sunil Narine's mayhem-filled 39-ball 85, Angkrish Raghuvanshi's 27-ball 54 followed by Andre Russell's 19-ball 41 and Rinku Singh's eight-ball 26 helped KKR post 272/7. KKR won the match by 106 runs in Visakhapatnam.
 

2. On March 27, 2024, SRH posted 277/3 on the board against Mumbai Indians. After openers Travis Head's 24-ball 64 and Abhishek Sharma's 23-ball 63, Aiden Markram's 28-ball 48 and Heinrich Klaasen's destructive 34-ball 80 helped SRH break the record for highest total. SRH won the match by 31 runs.
 

1. The top spot belongs to SRH as well. Travis Head's 41-ball 102, Heinrich Klaasen's 31-ball 67 and cameos from Abhishek Sharma (22-ball 34), Aiden Markram (17-ball 32) and Abdul Samad (10-ball 37) helped SRH post 287/3. RCB put up a fight but lost the match by 25 runs.
