After getting unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction, Shardul Thakur to join LSG? Ex-CSK star training with Lucknow team goes viral

India's star fast bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who was unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction last year, could be seen in action alongside Rishabh Pant for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. The  33-year-old cricketer from Mumbai who represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last edition of the tournament, was seen training with LSG players ahead of the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.

A few pictures of Shardul Thakur are going viral where he can be seen wearing the LSG jersey and can be seen rolling his arms and sitting beside the players.

Shardul Thakur's IPL career

Shardul Thakur has picked up 94 wickets and scored 307 runs in the IPL career, after getting released from CSK ahead of the mega auction, the star surprisingly failed to find any buyers in the mega auction last year. Shardul made his international debut in 2017 and played 11 Tests, 47 ODIs and 25 T20Is for Men in Blue. The star all-rounder is currently in the form of his life. 

How can Shardul Thakur join LSG?

Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants are currently in a tough situation as their three  fast bowlers - Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan are currently injured and will likely miss the action, and in that case, the franchise can sign Shardul Thakur as the replacement for the upcoming edition of the tournament. 

Shardul Thakur's performance in IPL 2024

Shardul Thakur was featured for Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK in the last edition of the tournament where he picked up five wickets in nine outings. The five time champions got out of the tournament after losing their must win clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).  

Shardul best IPL season

Shardul's memorable IPL season was 2021, where he was representing CSK captained by MS Dhoni, where he picked up 21 wickets in 16 matches for the franchise and helped the side to lift the title for the fourth time, defeating KKR by 27 runs in Dubai. 

After getting ignored by IPL franchises in the mega auction 2025 last year. Shardul signed with English county side Essex last month and will be available for seven matches in Division One from the beginning of the 2025 season.
