The Karnataka State Cricket Association has expressed discontent after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took away the hosting rights of IPL 2026 final and playoffs despite previously being designated as the venue for the summit game. In an official statement released on Wednesday, KSCA clarified that it formally informed the BCCI about its readiness to host the important clashes at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The clarification came just after the BCCI confirmed that the IPL 2026 final will take place in Ahmedabad, with Dharamshala and New Chandigarh to host the playoff games. In an official statement issued through spokesperson Vinay Mruthyunjaya, the KSCA said that it fully informed the BCCI about its preparation to host the final and playoffs.

"KSCA President and legendary Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad was personally in touch with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in this regard and had also formally conveyed KSCA’s preparedness, willingness, and keen interest in hosting the IPL Playoffs at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium," the statement read.
“The IPL matches conducted in Bengaluru during the current season were widely appreciated for their smooth execution, crowd management, operational efficiency, and overall spectator experience, reaffirming KSCA’s capability to successfully host marquee fixtures of such scale and importance," the statement added.
MLA ticket issue behind Bengaluru losing IPL final hosting rights?
Earlier, it was reported that Bengaluru's M.Chinnaswamy Stadium lost IPL 2026 final hosting rights due to MLA ticket issue despite the convention of defending champions hosting the title clash.
"Bengaluru was originally designated to host the Final. However, owing to certain requirements from the local association and authorities that were beyond the scope of BCCI's established guidelines and protocols, the venue has been shifted and reassigned," the BCCI said in the media release.
Where were IPL 2025 playoffs played?
The Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator clash were hosted in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. The Qualifier 2 and final were played in Ahmedabad.
