The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 could be called off amidst rising tensions between India-Pakistan borders. Sports Tak has learnt that BCCI has called for an immediate meeting and the IPL 2025 could be shelved. BCCI's first priority is to ensure overseas players' safety and to send them back home.
Earlier, the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala on May 8 was called off due to security reason.
A special train has been moved to get players and support staff from Dharamshala to Delhi.
However, the final decision on the future of IPL 2025 will be taken shortly.
Following the abrupt abandonment of the PBKS vs DC match, the players from both the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings have returned to their respective hotel accommodations. They are currently awaiting further instructions and updates from the Indian cricket board regarding the next steps and the future course of action for the tournament.
Earlier, a decision was made to shift the IPL 2025 match between PBKS and Mumbai Indians (MI), which was originally scheduled to take place in Dharamshala on Sunday, May 11, to the Narendra Modi Stadium located in Ahmedabad. The decision to change the venue was made due to the closure of airports in both Chandigarh and Dharamsala. This closure is a direct consequence of the recent military action undertaken against terror infrastructure within Pakistan.
Despite the change in location, the scheduled date and timings for the match will remain the same. The encounter between these two teams, both vying for a playoff spot, will commence at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) on May 11th, as originally planned.
"TATA IPL Match No. 61 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally scheduled to be played in Dharamshala on Sunday, May 11, has been relocated to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad," the BCCI said in a statement.
