South Africa's 30-year-old all-rounder Corbin Bosch was served legal notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for ditching Pakistan Super League (PSL) to sign with Mumbai Indians (MI) as their replacement for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Reportedly, Bosch has provided an explanation to PCB. He stated that he made this move to prioritise his future as MI has other franchises across several leagues as well.
"Bosch provided his explanation to Pakistani officials, stating that his decision was not meant to disrespect PSL. He said he had to prioritize his future, as Mumbai Indians are not only a strong IPL team but also have franchises in multiple other leagues, which could benefit his career significantly," revealed a report by Cricket Pakistan.
The report further revealed that Bosch's explanation will be evaluated by the PCB. There is a possibility that he may get banned from PSL for future editions. The other option is a penalty. The official statement from PCB is expected to come later this month.
Bosch was signed by PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi in the diamond category. They were yet to name Bosch's replacement. PSL is scheduled to start on April 11. Peshawar will face Quetta Gladiators on April 12 in their campaign opener.
Bosch to wait for IPL debut?
Bosch joined Hardik Pandya's MI as replacement for South Africa pacer Lizaad Williams. It is yet to be seen whether Bosch will make his MI debut in the high voltage clash against Ruturaj Gaikwad's Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Considering the match is at MA Chidambaran Stadium, Chennai, MI might be inclined to go for spin-bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner or Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman ahead of Proteas' pace-bowling all-rounder.
MI is Bosch's second IPL franchise. He has been a part of Rajasthan Royals (RR) as well but did not get to make his IPL debut. So far, he has 59 wickets from 86 games and scored 663 runs, including two fifties. He has been picked in the squad on the basis of recent performances.
