Ajinkya Rahane after getting injured during match against Delhi Capitals.

Highlights:

Ajinkya Rahane scored 26 runs from 14 balls.

Rahane went off the field in the 11th over.

Sunil Narine led KKR in Rahane's absence.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane got injured in the 11th over of Delhi Capitals' (DC) run chase on April 29. Rahane was hit on the hand when Faf du Plessis played a shot towards cover off Andre Russell's bowling. Rahane went off the field and Sunil Narine took over as captain instead of vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer who was used as an impact player. He did not return to the field but KKR won by 14 runs. After the match, spin-bowling all-rounder Anukul Roy provided an update on Rahane's extent of injury.

"It doesn’t seem too serious. He might need two or three days. The doctors will give a clearer picture, but for now, he’s okay. He got a few stitches, but it’s manageable," said Anukul in the post-match press conference.

Earlier, in the post-match presentation, Rahane dismissed any concerns around his injury and said, "Not bad. I will be okay. I will be fine."

Before getting injured, in the first innings, Rahane contributed with a cameo. He walked in to the middle in the fourth over. He did not let the tempo drop and scored 26 runs from 14 balls. The top-order batter scored 26 runs from 14 balls, including a six. He was dismissed by opposition captain Ajinkya Rahane.

Roy lauds Narine

Roy, who played his first match of the season, lauded Narine for bringing KKR back into the game with a double-wicket over after Rahane left the field. He dismissed a rampant Axar and an in-form Tristan Stubbs in the 14th over to push DC on the back foot.

"The match had started drifting towards them — they were batting very positively and scoring right away. It felt like we were under pressure. But then Narine came in, bowled brilliantly, and took two to three wickets back-to-back. That charged us all up and brought us right back into the game," said Anukul.

Anukul was impressive with the ball as he got the wicket of opener Abhishek Porel and conceded just 27 runs from his quota of four overs.
