'I don’t think about...': Yuzvendra Chahal breaks silence on Kuldeep Yadav’s selection over him in Team India

India veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said that he is happy for Kuldeep Yadav and he is not thinking about his international comeback at this time because it is out of his hands. Chahal and Kuldeep were called as 'Kul-Cha' spin duo for the Men in Blue. Kuldeep Yadav is currently featuring for India but Chahal was last featured in Indian colours in August 2023.

Chahal was a part of India's 2024 World Cup winning squad but the leg spinner failed to feature in a single match as the Rohit Sharma-led side featured with Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav was a part of India's Champions Trophy 2025 winning squad where he picked up seven wickets in five outings.

Chahal lavished praise on Kuldeep Yadav and called him the No.1 wrist spinner in the world. Kuldeep will now be seen featuring for the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is scheduled to start from March 22.

“I don’t think about what is not in my hands,” Chahal says when quizzed about prospects of an India comeback. "Right now, he (Kuldeep) is the No.1 wrist spinner in the world. It shows in the way he is bowling both in IPL and international cricket,” said Chahal on HT.

Chahal also revealed that he shares a great bond with Kuldeep and both of them have the same approach as they are attacking bowlers. Chahal also felt that they always trusted each other on the field.

“I have loved bowling with Kuldeep. We enjoy a great bonding, on and off the field. It shows,” he said. “It was fun bowling with him because we have a similar approach to bowling. Both of us love to attack. It was also partnership bowling. When one of us would go for runs, the other would make it tighter from the other end. We always trusted each other.”

The duo of Yuzvendra and Kuldeep played 37 ODIs together and picked 130 wickets. Chahal has been signed by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the IPL 2025. Both Chahal and Kuldeep will feature against each other on May 11 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala.
