Rishabh Pant apologizes to LSG fans after disappointing season
Speaking at the toss, Pant said LSG would also have opted to bowl first because of the batting-friendly nature of the pitch.
However, the major talking point from his interaction was his emotional apology directed towards the fans.
"Everyone knows it's been a tough season for us, but it has also been a time of significant learning, both as a team and personally."
Pant then sincerely apologized to the supporters who continued to back the team throughout the campaign.
"We sincerely apologize to our fans who have come in big numbers to support us from across the country, especially from all of UP."
The LSG skipper further promised that the team would come back stronger in the future.
"At the same time, we are determined to come back stronger as a team, regardless of the outcome, to cheer them up and we will give our 100%."
Rishabh Pant also confirmed two changes in the playing XI for the match.
"We have two changes. Arjun comes in and Arshin come in."
The emotional statement from Pant quickly grabbed attention on social media, with fans appreciating the honesty shown by the wicketkeeper-batter after a difficult season.
LSG endured a forgettable IPL 2026 campaign
Lucknow Super Giants had a season to forget in IPL 2026 as the franchise failed to remain competitive throughout the tournament.
The side has already been eliminated from the playoff race and currently sits at the bottom of the points table.
LSG managed to win only four matches out of the 13 games they played before their final league-stage fixture and collected just eight points during the campaign.
The team struggled in almost every department, including batting consistency, bowling execution, and fielding performances, which ultimately led to their early elimination from the tournament.
Despite entering the season with high expectations under Rishabh Pant’s leadership, LSG never truly found momentum and endured one of their worst IPL campaigns since joining the league.
