MI vs GT Today Match Toss Update: Mumbai Indians take on Gujarat Titans as Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash being played at the Wankhede stadium on May 6.
What did the captains say after the toss?
After winning the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill said:
"We will bowl first. I don't think the wicket will change much, got to have a total on the board and then chase it. It's all about delivering our best as a team. We have one change. Arshad comes back for Sundar. Rabada is back, but he will need a few games to get back in the groove. We are fortunate that we can use Kishore when needed. We have 6-7 bowling options."
Meanwhile, MI skipper Hardik Pandya, after losing the toss, said:
"We don't mind batting. There's a lot of breeze. Will be fine to bowl second in such conditions as well. For us it's important to execute our plans. In IPL, anyone can come in and change a game. We need to stick to our plans and be ruthless for 20 overs. We need to maintain discipline, need to be humble and focussed. We are playing with the same team."

Pitch and conditions
"It's pitch no. 8 at the Wankhede. The square boundaries are 66m and 61m respectively, while it's 74m down the ground. Three matches have been played on this surface before. There has been some weather around, so some showers are expected. The groundsmen have done well to prepare this surface. The game against RCB was a high-scoring one, the game against CSK was around the 170-run mark. This is a 200-plus surface, but with showers expected, the captain winning the toss should elect to bowl," Matthew Hayden analysed the match.
MI vs GT Head-to-Head
GT and MI have faced each other in 6 matches in IPL. Out of these 6 games, GT have won 4 whereas MI have come out victorious on 2 occasion.
