Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer lauds Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer for his six-hitting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Iyer recently featured against five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where he scored 72 runs in 41 balls, and his knock included four sixes and five fours. Iyer's hard-hitting knock helped the PBKS to register a four-wicket win against CSK.

Jaffer, who also featured for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), recalled Iyer's 2023 ODI World Cup campaign where he scored 530 runs in 11 outings, as Australia defeated India in the final to clinch the title.

"I am really impressed with the way Shreyas Iyer has been hitting sixes," Jaffer said on ESPNcricinfo's Time Out show. "We have seen since the 50-over World Cup [in 2023]. Iyer is probably the best six-hitter across spin bowling as well as fast bowling.

"How easily he dispatches the ball into the crowds - it's absolutely amazing. He is never in two minds. You hardly see him mistime it. It doesn't just carry over the boundary, it goes really long. Looks like he has worked really hard at that. Across all the Indian batters, he is somebody who you feel can hit sixes with ease" jaffer added

Iyer continued his purple patch in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as well. He scored 360 runs in 10 matches of the tournament with a highest score of 97*. He smashed 23 fours and 25 sixes in the IPL 2025 so far. He is currently 10th in the orange cap tally.

Iyer is also leading PBKS by example; under his captaincy, the franchise won six matches out of their 10 outings. One match has ended without a result. PBKS are currently in second place on the points table with 13 points. The Punjab-based franchise will now face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 4 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.
