IPL 2025 Orange Cap Standings: Pooran, Marsh leave others far behind while Rahane enters top 5

Highlights:

Gujarat Titans' Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler can move up in orange cap race.

Nicholas Pooran has been in sensational form and currently holds the orange cap.

Mitchell Marsh is not too far behind his teammate Pooran.

Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) top order batters has been dominating the orange cap race in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. LSG's wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran is way ahead of other team's batters but not Mitchell Marsh who is just 25 runs behind. Pooran registered his best IPL score of 87 not out from 36 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to maintain his domination. His teammate Marsh scored 81 runs from 48 balls to take the second spot. 

There was another change in top five with KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane scoring 61 runs from 35 balls in the unsuccessful run chase. Rahane went past Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer who was knocked over for a single-digit score by left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed.

There was one change in top 10 as well. PBKS' young opener Priyansh Arya took the 10th spot with a sensational 42-ball 103 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Sudharsan, Buttler and Samson under spotlight

On April 9, a few changes are expected in the purple cap race as Gujarat Titans (GT) go up against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at home. GT opener Sai Sudharsan can move up to the third spot easily but will need a big knock to challenge LSG batters. Similarly, GT wicketkepeer-batter Jos Buttler can make it into top five. Buttler has scored 166 runs from four innings so far.

Currently, no RR batter is in contention for the orange cap race. Their only batter in top 20 is captain Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batter has 137 runs from four games. He needs a half-century to throw his hat in the ring for the orange cap.
