After a dominant 58-run win over Rajasthan Royals at their home ground in Ahmedabad on April 9, Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans have climbed to the very top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 standings.
Gujarat Titans are the new table toppers in IPL 2025
With this impressive fourth win in just five matches, Gujarat Titans moved a comfortable two points ahead of Delhi Capitals (DC). They're sitting at the top of the table with a total of 8 points and a really strong net run rate of +1.413. The win over RR not only cements GT's position as early frontrunners in the tournament but also sends a clear message about their intentions this season.
On the flip side, things aren't looking as bright for Rajasthan Royals. They are lurching at the seventh place in the standings with only two wins from their five games. Their net run rate has also taken a significant hit, dropping to -0.733.
Talking about the match, putting on a strong batting display first, Gujarat Titans managed to reach a formidable total of 217 runs for the loss of six wickets. The innings was anchored by a fantastic knock from Sai Sudharsan, who scored a well-paced 82 runs off 53 deliveries. He received valuable support from Jos Buttler and M. Shahrukh Khan, both contributing 36 runs to the total.
In reply, Rajasthan Royals struggled to build momentum and were eventually bowled out for just 159 runs in 19.2 overs. Despite a fighting half-century from Shimron Hetmyer, who scored 52, and a steady 41 from their captain Sanju Samson, the rest of the batting lineup couldn't withstand Gujarat Titans' disciplined bowling attack. GT's bowlers put on a united front, with Prasidh Krishna leading the way by taking three crucial wickets, while Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore each chipped in with two wickets.
