Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh had a tough outing during Punjab Kings' IPL 2026 opener against the Gujarat Titans as he ended up in an unwanted record list after bowling an 11-ball over in the 19th edition of the tournament
After opting to bowl first, Arshdeep was asked to bowl the final over of the innings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. But things didn’t go as planned. He bowled four wides and one no-ball, which meant the over stretched to 11 deliveries before he could complete six legal balls.

With this, Arshdeep joined a list of bowlers who have had similar overs in the IPL. The others include Mohammed Siraj, Tushar Deshpande, Shardul Thakur, Sandeep Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
Siraj was the first player in IPL history to bowl an 11-ball over. He did it while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a 2023 match against Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Longest over bowled in the IPL (in balls)
11 – Mohammed Siraj (RCB) vs MI, Bengaluru, 2023 (Over #19)
11 – Tushar Deshpande (CSK) vs LSG, Chennai, 2023 (Over #4)
11 – Shardul Thakur (LSG) vs KKR, Kolkata, 2025 (Over #13)
11 – Sandeep Sharma (RR) vs DC, Delhi, 2025 (Over #20)
11 – Hardik Pandya (MI) vs GT, Wankhede, 2025 (Over #8)
11 – Arshdeep Singh (PBKS) vs GT, Mullanpur, 2026 (Over #20)
Interestingly, in the 2025 IPL season alone, three bowlers ended up bowling 11-ball overs.
Arshdeep, who is the leading wicket-taker for Punjab Kings in IPL history, bowled his full quota of four overs in this match but couldn’t pick up a single wicket and gave away 42 runs.

He also came close to reaching a big milestone. If he had taken three wickets in this game, he would have become the first bowler to take 100 wickets for Punjab Kings in the IPL. Right now, he has 97 wickets from 84 matches since making his debut in 2019.
While it was not a great day for Arshdeep, a few other bowlers performed well. Vijaykumar Vyshak was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 34 runs in his four overs. Yuzvendra Chahal also had a good outing, dismissing Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. Marco Jansen also chipped in with a solid performance with the ball.
