Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka shared an emotional message for young pacer Prince Yadav after the fast bowler earned his maiden India call-up for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan national cricket team.
Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India announced the squads for the one-off Test and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan on Tuesday, with Prince Yadav receiving his first-ever national team selection in the ODI squad.
The Delhi pacer was rewarded for his impressive performances during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026, where he emerged as one of LSG’s standout performers.

Sanjiv Goenka congratulates Prince Yadav after India call-up
Soon after the squad announcement, Sanjiv Goenka took to social media platform X and congratulated the youngster with a heartfelt message.
“Delighted to see Prince Yadav earn his maiden ODI call-up for India. His rise this IPL season has been a joy to witness. He has the heart, the hunger, and the fearlessness to take on the best. This is just the beginning. Congratulations, Prince. I'm proud of you, and so is LSG. Make India proud,” Goenka wrote.
Prince Yadav has been one of the biggest positives for LSG in an otherwise inconsistent IPL campaign. The right-arm pacer impressed throughout the season with his raw pace, disciplined bowling and ability to handle pressure situations.
Prince shines for LSG in IPL 2026
Representing Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026, Prince Yadav picked up 16 wickets and established himself as a key member of the franchise’s bowling unit.
Despite LSG struggling collectively during the season, the youngster consistently delivered impactful spells and caught the attention of selectors with his performances against top batters.
India are scheduled to host Afghanistan for a one-off Test starting June 6, followed by a three-match ODI series from June 14 to June 20.
Shubman Gill will lead India in both formats, while KL Rahul has been named Test vice-captain. In ODIs, Shreyas Iyer will serve as Gill’s deputy.
