Rajasthan Royals' (RR) teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scripted another massive Indian Premier League (IPL) milestone after surpassing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma for a historic six-hitting record during the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC).

The 15-year-old continued his sensational IPL 2026 campaign by smashing three sixes in the ongoing game against DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In the process, Sooryavanshi overtook Abhishek Sharma’s tally of most sixes hit by an Indian batter in a single IPL season.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks Abhishek Sharma's massive IPL record

Sooryavanshi now has 43 sixes in just 12 matches during IPL 2026. Previously, the record belonged to Abhishek Sharma, who hammered 42 sixes in 16 matches during the IPL 2024 season.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer occupies the third spot on the list with 39 sixes during IPL 2025.

Overall, the record for most sixes in a single IPL season belongs to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) legend Chris Gayle, who smashed a staggering 59 sixes in 15 matches during the 2012 season.

Vaibhav shines again but RR post 193 against DC

The left-handed batter once again gave Rajasthan Royals a fiery start and looked set for another big score before getting dismissed for 46 runs off just 21 deliveries.

Apart from Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel played a composed knock of 53 runs off 40 balls while skipper Riyan Parag smashed 51 runs off 26 deliveries.

Despite the strong contributions from the middle-order, Rajasthan Royals could only manage to score 193 runs in their allotted 20 overs against Delhi Capitals.
