It was Ishan Kishan's maiden IPL century

Ishan Kishan's debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was nothing short of exceptional as he cracked stunning century against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 clash on Sunday, March 23. He unleashed an explosive knock to bring his century in just 45 balls which placed him among the elite in IPL history.

Kishan's 45-ball century is now tied for the second-fastest hundred by an Indian player in the Indian Premier League. He shares this distinction with Mayank Agarwal. Only Yusuf Pathan holds the record for a faster century by an Indian player, having achieved the milestone in just 37 balls.

Fastest centuries by Indian batters in IPL history:

1 - Yusuf Pathan: 37-ball hundred in RR vs MI clash in 2010
2 - Ishan Kishan: 45-ball hundred in SRH vs RR clash in 2025
3 - Mayank Agarwal: 45-ball hundred in KXIP vs RR clash in 2020
4 - Virat Kohli: 47-ball hundred in RCB vs KXIP clash in 2016
5 - Virender Sehwag: 48-ball hundred in DC vs Deccan Chargers clash in 2011

Kishan ended up cracking a lightning 106 runs off just 47 balls which was featured with eleven boundaries and six sixes. With this Kishan became the first Indian player to score a hundred for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is also the sixth batter overall to achieve this feat for the franchise.

In contrast, Jofra Archer endured a difficult outing, setting an unwanted record. He conceded a staggering 76 runs, the most by any bowler in a single IPL match, surpassing Mohit Sharma's previous record of 73. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batting onslaught resulted in a final score of 286/6. This total now stands as the second-highest in IPL history, narrowly trailing their own record-breaking score of 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2024.

Ishan Kishan's indirect dig at former franchise Mumbai Indians

Meanwhile, right after smashing the sensational ton, Kishan took a veiled dig at his former franchise Mumbai Indians. SRH bough Kishan for Rs 11.25 crore in IPL 2025 mega auction which ended the star wicketkeeper-batter's seven-year stint with Mumbai Indians. After hitting the robust hundred, Kishan said that RR's team environment is very different.

"Just feel good. I was hoping for it [the century]. The team is doing well, and its environment is very different... When Abhishek and Head started the innings, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters. Credit goes to them also. The pitch was really good, and we were just trying to get them under pressure. We need to be on point, just keep things simple. It's all about not panicking," Kishan said after the SRH's innings.
