Varun Chakravarthy questioned third umpire's decision.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star spinner Varun Chakravarthy questioned the controversial "no-ball" call during the Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The incident happened during the seventh over when MI opener Ryan Rickelton was dismissed by leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari, with Pat Cummins taking an easy catch at cover. The incident got hype when the fourth umpire stopped Rickelton near the boundary rope, and the delivery was called a no-ball.

While watching the replay, the third umpire found that wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen had his gloves in front of the stumps when the ball made contact with the bat. Rickelton, who was going back to the dressing room, failed to capitalise on a free hit.

Varun Chakravarthy took his 'X', formerly known as Twitter, to question the decision of the  third umpire.

"If the keeper's gloves come in front of the stumps, it should be a dead ball and a warning to the keeper so that he doesn't do that again !!! Not a no-ball and a free hit!! What did the bowler do. Thinking out loud!! What do u all think???" wrote Varun.

However, Rickelton was dismissed in the next over as Harshal Patel got his wicket bowling a slower delivery. He scored 31 off 23 balls that helped MI to register a four-wicket win against SRH.

Chakaravarthy is going through a purple patch, the star spinner picked up 10 wickets in first seven matches of IPL 2025. However, his franchise KKR, has struggled to find consistent form. KKR have managed only three wins from their first seven games. Varun and his teammates will look to bounce back when they face the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 21 in Kolkata
