The Kolkata Knight Riders are facing a lot of problems simultaneously, and one of them is the underwhelming form of Cameron Green. The Australian all-rounder failed for a third consecutive time, as he got dismissed on four runs in a washed out game against Punjab Kings on Monday, April 6.
Recently, former Australia cricketer Aaron Finch has expressed his concerns on Green's lack of form for KKR as he believes that the all-rounder is not having the same kind of presence that made him x-factor in the top-order. Finch has urged KKR to give Green a bit of rest to bring the best out of him.
"One of those dismissals has been a run out, not a part of his fault. Still, he's missed out twice. There's a bit of panic, he's not looking the same as the past. Remember when he was at the top of the order for MI - how he had totally different intent. He was imposing at the crease. Now he looks tentative. Don't push him down. Push him either up the order, or give him a rest," said Finch on ESPNcricinfo's Time Out.
Cameron Green was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for a record breaking Rs 25.20 crore in mini-auction for IPL 2026, with this he became the most expensive oveseas player in the history of the tournament.
Cameron Green's struggle in IPL 2026
In three games so far, Cameron Green has looked a shadow of himself, as he scored only 24 runs . In KKR's season opener against Mumbai Indians, the all-rounder got dismissed on 18 runs off 10 deliveries, followed by 2 off 2 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad and 4 off two balls against Punjab Kings.
Kolkata Knight Riders' poor start in IPL 2026
In IPL 2026, KKR have lost two of their first three matches and are still looking for their first win in the tournament, with their game against Punjab Kings on Monday abandoned because of rain in Kolkata.
The three-time IPL champions stand at the eight place only because of the solitary point.
Next challenge for KKR
Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants on April 11. The Kolkata based franchise will aim to work on their weak areas, particularly their top-order struggles and lack of depth in the fast-bowling department.
