History was created at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history. He was roped in by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore after an outrageous increase in bid as Delhi Capitals (DC) decided to use their Right to Match (RTM) card.
Four Indian players from India's ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024-winning squad were up for grabs in the IPL mega auction. Arshdeep Singh became the most expensive Indian pacer in the auction at Rs 18 crore. Punjab Kings (PBKS) used Right to Match (RTM) card for him after Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) last bid for him was Rs 15.75 crore. Arshdeep was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 with 17 wickets to his name.
India's leading wicket-taker in T20I, leggie Yuzvendra Chahal who did not play a single game in T20 World Cup 2024 had a big payday. He was roped in by PBKS for Rs 18 crore after an intense bidding war.
Mohammed Siraj can be considered a steal deal considering the nature of the mega auction. Siraj went to IPL 2022 winners Gujarat Titans (GT) for Rs 12.25 crore. His former franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chose not to use the RTM card for him.
Among the players retained, RCB's Virat Kohli was the most expensive Indian player at Rs 21 crore. All-rounder Shivam Dube is the least expensive at Rs 12 crore. The big-hitter has been retained by CSK for Rs 12 crore.
