Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become a major part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises in team meetings. Teams have plans in place for him, not letting him dominate early as it gives Rajasthan Royals (RR) an advantage. While Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Kyle Jamieson got the better of Sooryavanshi on May 1, he admitted that he feared being hit all around the park leading up to the game, something which he has never experienced before facing a young player.
"I don't think I've ever been so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life. But yeah, we have obviously done a bit of planning leading into the game, and it was just nice that it paid off,” Jamieson said.
Sooryavanshi hit Jamieson for a boundary on the first ball he faced. The New Zealand pacer followed it up with a low-dipping yorker. All Sooryavanshi could do was get an under-edge. The ball hit his pad before disturbing the timber. He fell after scoring just four runs from two balls. The tall Kiwi pacer gave the young RR opener a fiery send-off. It led to him getting a warning from the match referee and being handed a demerit point.
Not just Jamieson but Mitchell Starc got the wicket of other opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal. Starc dismissed him with a high full toss after hitting the first ball for a six. Jamieson said that DC’s plan to get both openers back in the hut early worked.
“For most teams looking at Rajasthan's side, it's their top two especially have got them off to fliers. Starc-y got one with the old high full toss and I got one with a yorker so it was nice to get away early and sort of stem to flow [of runs] a little in the powerplay,” Jamieson said.

Jamieson enjoyed sharing the new ball with Starc who played his first game of the season. He was happy that DC registered a win after a hat-trick of defeats.
“He's world class, right? So whenever you can have one of those guys in your squad, it's a huge benefit so came at the right time. We sort of needed to get a bit of a move on, on the points table. So nice to have him and nice to share the new ball with him. It's pretty surreal,” the 31-year-old added.
DC to face CSK next
As DC chased down 226, their highest successful run chase, they moved to the sixth spot on the points table. This was their fourth win from nine games. Their next game is against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 5.
