Bhuvneshwar, Rasikh, Hazlewood break GT's back
After RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to field, his pace trio of Rasikh Salam Dar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Josh Hazlewood completely dismantled the Titans' explosive batting lineup. A combination of clinical Powerplay bowling, sharp spin through the middle overs, and a top-order collapse left the Titans scrambling for momentum on the biggest night of the season.

RCB’s seamers immediately hit suffocating, Test-match lengths to stifle the opening pair. Looking to break the early shackles, GT captain Shubman Gill tried to counter-attack but fell to Josh Hazlewood for just 10 runs in the third over. His opening partner, Sai Sudharsan (12), could not steady the ship either; attempting to force the issue against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he top-edged a short ball straight to wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma. By the end of the Powerplay, Gujarat was left reeling at 45/2 with Jos Buttler and Nishant Sindhu at the crease.
The introduction of spin only compounded the Titans' miseries. Krunal Pandya choked the run flow by conceding just five runs in the seventh over, piling immense pressure on the batsmen. The building tension forced a mistake from Nishant Sindhu (20 off 18 balls), who holed out trying to clear the ropes, handing Rasikh Salam Dar his first wicket of the night. RCB's bowling unit refused to give an inch, dragging GT to a sluggish 73/3 by the 12th over.
The middle-order collapse deepened when Krunal Pandya was rewarded for his tight bowling, dismissing a struggling Jos Buttler (19 off 23 balls) in the 13th over to leave Gujarat stuttering at 83/4. Brief resistance came from Arshad Khan and Washington Sundar, who managed to plunder 16 runs off the 14th over, but Hazlewood quickly snuffed out the resurgence by removing Arshad (15 off 6 balls) in the very next over. At the 15-over mark, the Titans stood precariously at 105/5 with Sundar joined by finisher Rahul Tewatia.
RCB's relentless pressure left no room for a late-innings explosion. Rasikh Salam Dar struck again in the 17th over to dismiss the dangerous Tewatia for a meager 7 runs, leaving the scoreboard at 121/6. Though Sundar and Jason Holder managed to inject some temporary momentum by taking 16 runs off the 18th over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned in the penultimate over to dismiss Holder (7) and cap off a brilliant spell, leaving GT at 145/7.
The final over provided high drama as Rashid Khan walked out and immediately launched Rasikh Salam Dar for a six on his first ball. However, the young speedster got his revenge on the very next delivery, dismissing Rashid to reduce the Titans to 151/8. Despite Washington Sundar anchoring the lower order to cross the line for a gritty, 37-ball half-century, Gujarat could only manage four more runs to finish on 155/8.
Rasikh Salam Dar led the bowling charts for the defending champions with stellar figures of 3/27, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/29) and Josh Hazlewood (2/37) provided elite seam support. Krunal Pandya also played a pivotal role with his disciplined 1/21. With the innings wrapped up, Royal Challengers Bengaluru now require 156 runs to successfully defend their IPL crown.
