Several players who will be seen in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 are playing in the DY Patil T20 Cup's 19th edition. In the clash between Route Mobile and DY Patil Red, three Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prominent players -- Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jitesh Sharma -- were in action. Despite three big players being in the team, DY Patil Red lost by 31 runs to Prithvi Shaw-led Route Mobile.
Shaw starts well, fireworks in slog overs
DY Patil Red captain Krunal won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shaw was dropped early at point off Bhuvneshwar's bowling. He scored 40 runs from 31 balls including 31 fours. Krunal was economical with the ball and conceded 22 runs. The left-arm spinner got the wicket of Siddharth Akre as well. Atharva Kale remained not out for a 37-ball 50.
Towards the end, it was wicketkeeper-batter Upendra Yadav and Ashutosh Sharma who went berserk. Upendra scored 48 runs from 26 balls including four fours and as many sixes. Ashutosh hit two sixes and two fours in his eight-ball 23 cameo. They posted 192/5 on the board. Bhuvneshwar went for plenty as he conceded 46 runs from his quota of four overs.
Batting collapse in run chase
In the run chase, DY Patil Red lost early wickets. Punjab Kings' Musheer Khan pushed the scoring rate with a 22-ball 42. But DY Patil Red continued to lose wickets. Krunal was run out for a golden duck whereas wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh was knocked over for a single-digit score. They were 86/7 in the 12th over. Puneet Datey and Bhuvneshwar pushed the score. Puneet scored 32 runs from 21 balls whereas Bhuvneshwar hit a four and a six in his 13-ball 22 cameo. DY Patil Red were bowled out for 161. They lost the match for 31 runs.
RCB's expensive picks
Jitesh was RCB's most expensive Indian pick in the mega auction. He was roped in for Rs 11 crore. Bhuvneshwar was just behind Jitesh at Rs 10.75 crore. Krunal's services were occupied for Rs 5.75 crore. Ahead of the IPL 2025, RCB announced Rajat Patidar as their captain. RCB will play Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2025 opener.
