Rajasthan Royals (RR) youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may have seen his team's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign come to an end, but the teenage sensation still made his way to Ahmedabad for the grand finale between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
While many fans were surprised to spot the 15-year-old at the Narendra Modi Stadium despite RR's elimination in Qualifier 2, the reason behind his presence has now come to light.
The young opener is expected to be one of the biggest winners at the IPL 2026 awards ceremony following a record-breaking campaign that established him as one of the brightest talents in world cricket.
Why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reached Ahmedabad despite RR's exit
Sooryavanshi arrived in Ahmedabad ahead of the IPL 2026 final and is expected to receive several individual awards following his sensational season with RR. Had he not been present, a RR representative would have collected the honours on his behalf.
The teenage batter is among the frontrunners for multiple awards, including the Emerging Player of the Season accolade after taking the tournament by storm in his breakthrough campaign.
He is also expected to be recognised for smashing the highest number of sixes in a single IPL season, having cleared the ropes an astonishing 72 times.
In addition, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is likely to be rewarded for maintaining one of the highest strike rates of the season, making him a strong contender for the Super Striker of the Season award.
His consistent match-winning performances throughout the campaign have also put him firmly in contention for the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) honour.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's sensational IPL 2026 season
The 15-year-old enjoyed a dream season with Rajasthan Royals, finishing with 776 runs from 16 matches at an extraordinary strike rate of 237.30 and an average of 48.50.
His tally includes five half-centuries and one century, while he also became the first uncapped player in IPL history to breach the 600-run mark in a single season.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi currently sits at the top of the Orange Cap standings and remains in contention to finish as the tournament's leading run-scorer, depending on the performances of GT batters Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan in the final.
Apart from dominating the batting charts, the youngster also rewrote several records throughout the season, including becoming the fastest player to reach 1000 IPL runs in terms of balls faced. His fearless approach and ability to take on the world's best bowlers have made him one of the biggest attractions of the tournament.
