IPL 2025 mega auction has shattered some of the biggest records. Players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Venkatesh Iyer were at the centre of some astonishing biddings. However, on the flip side, some of the big names also went unsold in the Jeddah bidding wars. The list includes names like David Warner, Kane Williamson, Shardul Thakur, and Prithvi Shaw.
Big names going unsold on Day 1
David Warner
The former Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, who is also one of the top scorers in the history of the Indian Premier League went unsold as there was not a single bid for the legendary opener. His performance in the last couple of years could be the major reason behind it.
Devdutt Padikkal
The young Indian player had one of the worst outings in the previous edition of IPL. He scored just 38 runs in 7 matches with 13 being his highest score. A total of just three boundaries came from his bat. The young batter has seen a dip in his performance since 2022.
Jonny Bairstow
The English star has constantly been dealing with injuries and was not in his best form in the last two years. He even missed a complete season due to injury. He could not find a buyer this time around.
Big names going unsold on Day 2
Kane Williamson
The former Surnisers Hyderabad captain has not been a top performer in the last couple of years in the IPL. He has only played 3 matches in the last two IPL seasons. He was one of the big names that could not see a bid for themselves.
Prithvi Shaw
Out-of-favour player Prithvi Shaw has shockingly remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. His performance has seen a big dip in the last couple of years.
Shardul Thakur
The Indian all-rounder was considered one of the top picks for day 2 but surprisingly remained unsold. There was no bid for the former CSK star and his history with injuries could be a reason for it.
