Mumbai started their IPL 2026 campaign well with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders, but things haven’t gone their way since then. They have lost their last two matches and are currently placed in the lower half of the points table.

MI will face RCB in their upcoming IPL 2026 clash.

Mumbai Indians will be looking to get back on track when they take on defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Mumbai started their IPL 2026 campaign well with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders, but things haven’t gone their way since then. They have lost their last two matches and are currently placed in the lower half of the points table.

MI on Jasprit Bumrah's performance

One of the talking points has been the performance of their main fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. He has played all three matches so far but hasn’t taken a single wicket yet. In total, he has bowled 11 overs and given away 88 runs, which is unusual for a bowler of his quality.

However, Mumbai’s batting coach Kieron Pollard made it clear that the team is not worried about Bumrah’s form. He said they are not focusing too much on stats like wickets or pace and are confident that Bumrah will come good.

“Sometimes the best form of attack is also defence. We’re not looking too much into the wicketless nature of Jasprit Bumrah," MI batting coach Kieron Pollard said on Saturday.

“In our camp, we are not concerned about Jasprit Bumrah. There’s no issues. You guys go into the intricacies of data and pace and wickets and all of that. We don’t look at cricket like that," he added.

Pollard also responded to questions about Bumrah’s slightly lower pace in the last match against the Rajasthan Royals. He explained that sometimes it’s better to change your approach instead of trying to match power with power, especially when the opposition is attacking hard.

When will Will Jacks join IPL?

There were also questions about the absence of England all-rounder Will Jacks. Pollard said the team expects him to join the squad soon and added that he is not aware of any fitness issues.

He also spoke about the team’s batting order, especially Tilak Varma, who hasn’t scored many runs recently. Pollard said players need to stay flexible and be ready to bat in different positions depending on what the team needs at that moment.

He gave the example of Suryakumar Yadav, who has batted at different positions for both Mumbai and India and has done well. According to Pollard, it’s not about fixed batting spots, but about adapting to the situation of the game.
