Rajasthan Royals are playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Eliminator fixture on Wednesday, May 27 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. RR's teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created havoc with his 97 runs off 29 balls.
Big feat for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
The 15-year-old opener managed to hit five fours and 12 massive sixes against the Pat Cummins-led side in a must-win game. With his 12 sixes, Vaibhav broke an old record of Chris Gayle in IPL. Vaibhav reached seven maximums, he broke Gayle's record of hitting most number of sixes in a single edition of the tournament.
In the 2012 season, Gayle smashed 59 sixes while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Now, Sooryavanshi went past the mark, with 65 sixes in the ongoing edition of IPL. Interestingly, Vaibhav also became the first Indian player to hit 60 or more maximums in a single IPL season.
