Rajasthan Royals put on an all-round masterclass to beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 27 runs in a rain-shortened IPL 2026 clash at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Batting first in an 11-over game, the Royals got off to a flying start thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
The opening duo tore into the Mumbai bowlers right from the start, adding 80 runs in just five overs. Jaiswal was in complete control, finishing unbeaten on 77 off 32 balls, blending timing with power and finding the boundary repeatedly.
Sooryavanshi, fearless at the other end, smashed 39 off 14 balls and took on experienced bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah with ease, hitting big sixes that set the crowd alight.
Jaiswal took charge immediately, targeting Deepak Chahar for 22 runs in the first over, and continued to punish Trent Boult with multiple sixes during the powerplay. Rajasthan raced to 59 runs in just 3.2 overs, leaving Mumbai struggling to contain them.
Mumbai’s Top Order Collapses
Chasing 151, Mumbai Indians never found their rhythm. Ryan Rickelton was out in the first over to Jofra Archer, and Suryakumar Yadav fell cheaply for six. Captain Rohit Sharma lasted only three balls before Sandeep Sharma removed him.
The top-order collapse put Mumbai under immediate pressure. While Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir tried to keep the chase alive with quick knocks of 25 each, the required rate kept climbing, and it became too steep for the visitors to chase down.
Bishnoi Strikes and RR’s Bowling Dominance
Rajasthan’s bowlers stayed disciplined and controlled. Ravi Bishnoi was the standout, taking two crucial wickets in a single over to remove captain Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma. These breakthroughs ensured Mumbai couldn’t build any meaningful partnerships.
RR Remain Unbeaten
Rajasthan Royals extended their winning streak and maintained their perfect record in IPL 2026, topping the points table. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians suffered their second consecutive loss after an earlier defeat to the Delhi Capitals.
Brief scores:
Rajasthan Royals: 150/3 in 11 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal not out 77, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 39).
Mumbai Indians: 123/9 in 11 overs (Sherfane Rutherford 25, Naman Dhir 25; Sandeep Sharma 2/26, Ravi Bishnoi 2/25, Nandre Burger 2/21).
